A Brief Biography
Ling-Yun Tang received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University and her B.A. from Wellesley College.She concentrates on visual arts and urbanization, with a focus on changing practices of artistic production and consumption in reform era Chinese society.
Research Projects
Research on the commercialization of contemporary art draws from her dissertation, which examines how struggles to define the symbolic boundaries of the contemporary art world in Beijing have reshaped the city’s image and arts industry.
